GP margin calculator

Gross profit (GP) is what is left of your sales after paying for the goods you sold. Enter your sales and cost of sales for the same period and this works out your GP and GP percentage, taking VAT (or GST in Australia) out of your sales if you tick the box. Choose your country above the fields.

What good looks like

Typical ranges vary a lot by business. Many pubs aim for roughly 60 to 70 per cent GP on food, and draught drinks are commonly quoted somewhere around the mid-50s to low-70s per cent. Wine, spirits and soft drinks are often quoted higher.

These are rough guides, not promises. Compare the result with your own past weeks: a steady figure that covers your overheads matters more than any published range.
